FAQ's

Que : What curriculum do you follow?
Ans : We follow the British Foundation Stage Profile and also incorporate Birth to Three Matters, a developmental programme for the under three year olds. We approach all activities through the Reggio Emilia philosophy

Que : What is Reggio Emilia, I have never heard of it?
Ans : A. Reggio Emilia is a well establish principle established by Loris Malaguzzi in 1944.He believed that children are born curious, social, inquisitive, and adventurous. He put a great emphasis on the environment and the importance of it for a child in the early years. He believed strongly in providing the right environment for a child to develop and saw the relevance of learning through play. This philosophy we have adopted.

Que : What food is provided for my child?
Ans : We provide a nutritious breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, and afternoon tea, all prepared in our on site kitchen.

Que : Do you provide transport to the Nursery?
Ans : No and we have no plans to provide this. At present there are no suitable group transport options available for very young children. If you are interested in car-pooling we can communicate that to other parents through our newsletter.

Que : My child is intolerant to wheat and gluten, can you cater for that?
Ans : Yes we can offer an alternative menu, if your child has an allergy.

Que : If my child cries when I leave him is it all right for me to stay with him?
Ans : A. We do not advise you stay with your child. It is best for him to become confident in his new environment and learn to trust our staff. It is natural for a child to cry being separated from their parents but our staff are trained to handle such circumstances. If your child does become distressed in anyway, please be assured that we will call you and ask you to come and collect him.

Que : When is your nursery closed during the year?
Ans : Our Nursery is open all year round apart from statutory UAE holidays, two days over the Christmas period and two days over the Easter period.

Que : Do you have a pool?
Ans : No , for safety reasons we do not. We do not have a pool however we will have a special water feature for play.

Que : Does the Academic programme run all year round?
Ans : No, we run three terms winter, spring, and summer. When the term finishes we operate a Christmas, Easter, and summer camps.

Que : How are the classes staffed?
Ans : In the baby room, we have one adult to two babies. In the Nursery we have one teacher, one teacher’s assistant and a nanny. This is the same for the foundation stage class.

Que : Are all your staff qualified?
Ans : Yes,the teacher’s and teaching assistants all hold a qualification in education, or child care,.In the baby room, we have qualified paediatric nurses or and nursery nurses.

Que : How many staff are native English speakers?
Ans : There is a native English speaker in each class at the nursery.

Que : Do you allow children in the nursery that have special needs?
Ans : This depends on the severity of the special need; and whether we can accommodate the child. We must do what is in the best interest of the child. We do have an inclusive policy and are happy to take children who will gain from our nursery environment.

Que : What happens if my child becomes sick or injured at the nursery?
Ans : We do have a qualified paediatric staff nurse on hand to deal with minor problems. We will notify you straight away should your child become sick during the day. If you cannot be contacted, we will call the nominated person you stipulate ,as your emergency contact

Que : What happens if my child needs medication during the day?
Ans : Our paediatric staff nurse is on hand to administer medication during the day, providing you have signed a consent form.

Que : Do you have a nursery doctor?
Ans : Yes we do. She makes a regular monthly visit. Along with our nurse she will discuss any health issue with you and happy to advise.

Que : When it is my child’s birthday, can I bring cakes in for the children?
Ans : Yes that is a lovely idea. We do discourage sweets as the children tend to get very excited after such treats, and it is also not healthy for them.

Que : What happens if I am late collecting my child?
Ans : We ask that you inform us if you are going to be late to collect your child. We can then reassure your child that someone is on the way. Should this become a regular occurrence then we do render a fee for late stay.
